Well, today we kick off Day 2 of the Compliance Institute, and I’m very excited about the lineup today. In the first session we have Jocelyn Samuels, Director of the OCR giving an update, which I’m sure will be very insightful. Today’s session highlights include Managed Care Fraud: Enforcement and Compliance, The Relationship of Legal and Compliance, and Conducting an Internal Compliance Survey. After yesterday’s conference sessions, I have high expectations for an energetic and fun-filled day. One of the key highlights thus far has been the emphasis on appropriate documentation of compliance activities.

In an era of complex laws and regulations, managing, tracking, and organizing this data has taken an ever increasing level of importance. Furthermore, in the managed care realm, with ever increasing oversight and involvement from CMS, MCOs need to remain ever more vigilant ensuring that they are adequately providing oversight of their FDRs (vendors). With ever increasingly complex and interconnected relationships, the heightened need for engagement with these vendors is at an all-time high. The Compliance Institute provides a great platform to connect with others in the profession, and I look forward to hearing from others and about their unique experiences.
