HCCA will host our 2nd Annual Silent Auction to Benefit America’s Fund at the 2016 Compliance Institute. America’s Fund, is a charity created to provide resources and financial support to critically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

America’s Fund was an easy choice after hearing how they helped HCCA member, Kim Lansford, and her son, Staff Sergeant (SSG) Justin Lansford. To read their remarkable story, and what America’s Fund did for them, see below.

Please consider supporting our silent auction by donating an auction item. Not only will you receive excellent exposure to our attendees and our more than 100,000 social media followers (as a donor your name and logo will be listed on our Compliance Institute website, in the mobile app, on the printed Compliance Institute Conference Guide, as well as on signage at the auction itself), you’ll be helping continue the important work America’s Fund does for our service members.

Your donation can be mailed to the HCCA/SCCE office at the address listed below. In order for your item to be included in the signage and social media, we must receive it by March 1, 2016. Please fill out donation form and return it to Kortney at kortney.nordrum@corporatecompliance.org.

America’s Fund and Justin Lansford’s Story

On April 23, 2012, SSG Lansford was severely injured when a roadside bomb struck his vehicle, while he was in the gun turret. The vehicle was completely flipped, with SSG Lansford trapped underneath it for more than 30 minutes, while his fellow soldiers worked to lift the truck off of him. As a result of the explosion, SSG Lansford suffered the loss of his left leg above the knee, crush injuries to his right leg and ankle, a ruptured spleen, damage to his liver and pancreas, two collapsed lungs, a broken back, burns to his right arm, as well as other injuries.  Justin spent four months in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center recovering, and pushed through another two years of physical therapy.

During the course of his recovery, Justin and his family received tremendous support from America’s Fund.  After being injured, Justin was flown from Afghanistan to Germany for treatment.  America’s Fund made contact with Justin and his family in Germany, just days after his injury. They provided support and necessary items that that the family left behind in the United States due to their rapid departure to be at Justin’s bedside.  America’s Fund also provided assistance with maintaining the family’s Pennsylvania home during the months they were at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland assisting with Justin’s recovery and rehabilitation.  Their involvement didn’t stop after Justin’s discharge from Walter Reed.  They have been an integral part of his recovery ever since.  They have provided needed support, adaptive equipment and have sponsored therapeutic trips to aide in Justin’ recovery. With the help of America’s Fund, Justin is doing well. He’s currently working on his bachelor’s degree, majoring in political science, with a minor in Islamic world studies. He has taken up hand-cycling as an alternative cardio exercise. To date, Justin has hand-cycled the Army 10 Miler, Chicago Marathon, and the Boston Marathon. On October 3, 2015, Justin married his longtime girlfriend, Carol, with his service dog, Gabe, acting as best man.

Many thanks,

Roy
